Mewch's owner and userbase are weird and pretty attention whorish.
8ch has a fairly big userbase but I can't help but feel that it's dwindling. Any of the older users have got to be exasperate by now. They had some big technical issues, leaks came out that showed they had some serious privacy issues, mods of their major boards are often times fickle or just do plain weird shit. Their /pol/ board was a pretty cool place for awhile. I had a lot of fun there during the primaries with all the memeing and shit. I know a lot about politics and campaigns so it was pretty fun for me seeing a bunch of people involved and Trump showing a bunch of career politicians how stupid they were in their own fucking fields. Since I know a lot I didn't really keep up on there after the primaries were over and started being a daily user again in September because the summer is basically garbage time for political campaigns. When I came back it was a fucking nightmare. Won't go into too much details cause it's more or less the same now, I guess the moderation is more lenient but they really didn't allow any dissenting opinions regarding Trump and this continued. While I supported him in the campaign it is only right and fair to scrutinize a sitting president so you're viewpoint as a good citizen should in fact change during the transition so to speak.
8ch.pl is dead and may be coming back. I trust the site about as much as I trust 8ch. It's an 8ch clone codewise I think basically some vichan plus stuff. I may be wrong at this point, because I know 8ch went closed source on some stuff. .pl is/was owned by this guy czaks who by all accounts was one of Hotwheels (the creator and former admin of 8ch's) irc buds. Had a lot of the same features, had a lot of the same problems just slower.
4chan is 4chan. I feel like despite all the stupid shit that's happened, the massive turnover of its various userbase(s) over the years that thing is never gonna fucking die. No matter how many stupid captcha's people click away at or anything.
The mods there are highly vetted, the rules are very firm, and is pretty much pozzed to high heaven as far as I'm concerned. With both 8ch and 4chan's /pol/ boards a LOT of redditors flocked their at some point during or after the election of Donald Trump because they felt get this, persecuted by reddit and other redditors. Can you imagine?
7ch started out of some dispute on 4chan way way way back in the day. It's still up, running, solid as a rock, but no really no body posts there. There /fit/ is somewhat active as far as I know and that's sort of stretching the truth to be honest.
